About This Event
Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is characterized by diverse genomic and epigenomic alterations that contribute to disease heterogeneity and biological complexity. Traditional molecular approaches may not fully capture DNA methylation patterns alongside genomic variation within a single workflow. This presentation will explore the research use of 5-base whole-genome sequencing (WGS) to simultaneously generate genomic and methylation data from the same sample. We will discuss how integrated genomic and epigenomic profiling can be used to investigate AML biology, characterize molecular subtypes, and support the discovery of novel research biomarkers associated with disease progression and treatment response. Research examples will highlight the potential of 5-base WGS to enable deeper biological insights and advance translational research in AML and other hematologic malignancies.
