About This Event
What began as one Aggie's vision for a better roadside convenience store has grown into one of the most recognizable retail brands in America. After earning his Bachelor of Building Construction from Texas A&M University in 1980, Arch "Beaver" Aplin III transformed a single store into Buc-ee's, a Texas icon known for its legendary customer service, distinctive products and larger-than-life travel centers. From Beaver Nuggets and brisket sandwiches to spotless restrooms and a cult-like following, Buc-ee's has redefined what travelers expect from a roadside stop. Along the way, Aplin has built his reputation as an entrepreneur, industry leader and passionate advocate for community service, while remaining deeply connected to Texas A&M and the state of Texas. The event is free. No tickets are required; registration available on-site only. The Sesquicentennial Speaker Series will feature current and former students sharing their perspectives on how Texas A&M has shaped the state, the nation and beyond throughout the annual 150th Celebration, concluding in April 2027.
