About This Event

A 60-minute technical webinar from Aliro, hosted on its Quantum Networking channel on BrightTALK, about measurement-device-independent quantum key distribution. Wendson de Sa Barbosa, Quantum Research Scientist at Aliro, explains how MDI-QKD sends quantum signals to a central node that performs a joint measurement, so the central measurement device does not need to be trusted, which addresses a class of detector side-channel attacks. The talk compares MDI-QKD with BBM92 and covers what a practical implementation requires. It also looks at how network architecture, including where the central measurement node sits, affects protocol performance. Finally, it shows how quantum network simulation can model and benchmark both protocols and explore hardware tradeoffs before physical deployment. It is aimed at researchers and engineers designing and validating quantum networks.
