About This Event
Blockade ’71, hosted by the South Asian American Digital Archive, is a free multimedia event that celebrates Philadelphia’s role in supporting the Bangladesh Liberation War. Drawing on pro-immigrant sentiment, the event features an archival exhibit, artmaking, food and music from sitarist Devi Majeske. It begins with a screening of the 2016 documentary Blockade, which follows a group of peace activists who surrounded a Pakistani freighter on the Delaware River in 1971.
