About This Event

Julie Riley (https://ced.berkeley.edu/people/julie-riley) is the inaugural Creedon Fellow at the UC Berkeley Department of Architecture, a position established to connect early-career designers with academic teaching and research. She is a designer and educator whose work examines materials and tools of production through the lens of historical narratives, documents, and techniques. Bridging practice and pedagogy, her research engages contemporary design methods while critically revisiting the past. Riley has worked as a project designer at Welcome Projects and as a designer with d.esk, contributing to materially driven and research-oriented design work. From 2023 to 2024, Riley served as an adjunct instructor teaching undergraduate architecture studios at Woodbury University, where she received the Emerging Faculty Award in Architecture. In 2026, she was the Douglas Gillmor Visiting Co-Lecturer at the University of Calgary, collaborating with Anna Neimark. The Creedon Fellowship was endowed by Gerard "Roddy" Creedon (1959–2021), a founder and principal of Allied Architecture + Design and a longtime and beloved lecturer in the Department of Architecture.
