About This Event

AI can improve day-to-day work while protecting sensitive data and maintaining confidence in results. TRB will host a webinar on Monday, November 16, 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM Eastern that will explore practical ways transportation professionals can use AI coding agents, open-source language models, and locally deployed tools even without traditional programming backgrounds. Presenters will share examples from a state DOT inspection form digitization system and privacy-preserving transportation plan review workflows. They will also discuss how transportation domain experts can build, evaluate, and apply AI tools while managing considerations related to accuracy, confidentiality, cost, and performance, including when commercial AI services or local and open-source models may be appropriate. This webinar is sponsored by TRB’s Standing Technical Committee on Computational Methods and Analytics. The registration fee is $60. Purchase a webinar package for discounted pricing. Complimentary registration is available for employees of TRB sponsors, standing technical committee chairs, involved CRP panel members, media, congressional staff, and TRB or National Academies staff. Visit MyTRB.org for details. A recording will be sent to all registrants after the webinar.
